CARRY A VALUABLE FACE VALUE.

Your facial expression tells us many things about what is going on in your heart. It is difficult to separate a man's countenance from what he feels.

A happy face is associated with good times and a sad face equates bad times. But we know life is full of ups and downs, it is our ability to control these ups and downs that make us win in life. We  should control life, life shouldn't control us.

A consistently happy countenance is a clear sign of maturity and trust in God. A happy face doesn't necessarily mean one has no challenges, it shows rather that one trusts God absolutely and doesn't see any challenge to be bigger than Him.

Nehemiah 2:1 tells us something deep about the character of Nehemiah:

"And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. NOW I HAD NOT BEEN BEFORETIME SAD IN HIS PRESENCE."

Nehemiah was a captive, a prisoner, a slave; he was a man with no rights in a foreign land with little hope of return. He had every reason to be sad and to carry a sad countenance but he didn't.

Truth be told sometimes it beats one's imagination how such men where able to do it. But then, it shows their level of maturity and trust in God. Nehemiah was in a mess but wasn't a mess!

It is therefore not surprising that God choose him to rebuild the walls. God is looking for people to use for great things but those people must prove they can handle the challenges of higher ground by handling their emotions correctly today.

When Stephen was arrested and accused falsely, the Bible tells us in Acts 6:15 that his face was like that of an angel. Remember that he died from the persecution but his face still carried grace.

To conclude, God needs the world to see clearly enough our level of trust in Him by simply looking at our face. To do this we will need the help of the Holy Spirit. We can pray Him to help us and He will.

What's your countenance saying about you?

MERCY

It’s pulpit rotation Sunday. The guest minister mounted the podium as the church stood with a resounding applause. From the fifth row where he was Oke noticed the deep tribal lines on Pastor Obayemi’s cheeks, and his missing tooth was revealed as he led a worship song. “Oh! Not again!” Oke retorted under his breathe. “When will they stop sending unlearned preachers to us?” He touched his jeans to feel his phone. “It’s going to be a long service.” He turned and moved towards the exit. As we he was about to step outside, he heard the interpreter’s booming voice “Today we will be praying some strong prayers.” Oke proceeded out of the auditorium; phone in hand, a smirk on his face. From the toilet where he stood examining his phone, he could hear the roar of praying people. He was pacing back and forth, staring at the marble walls. He began to ramble about the toilet. “No one is online, even my ‘goons’ will be in church now. This is unfair! I wish I could leave.” He st...

KING SAUL: The Demand

After the death of Joshua and the elders of his generation, the children of Israel forgot the wonders, power and love of the Almighty God. They forsook the Living God and worshipped stone dead gods like the nations around them. They got into the anger book of God and were open to attacks by the enemy. They were sorely oppressed and they cried out. God remembered His promise and love towards Israel and He gave them JUDGES to deliver them out of oppression and to lead them back to righteousness. Thus began the era of the judges. Season after season the people returned to sin and God remained faithful in giving them judges. Years passed and the mantle of leadership fell on a prophet - Samuel. Samuel had a good reputation with God and the people. He judged the people in righteousness and wisdom. His tenure saw the Philistines subdued and cities restored to the Israelites. And there was peace in his days. The Demand Samuel grew old and made his sons judges. Unfortunately the sons of S...

Mistaken Identity

Nothing hurts more than when people take you to be something negative which you are not. If not handled properly it can dry the oil of motivation. Joseph had a DREAM but his brothers mistook him for a DREAMER. They said to one another, "...Behold, this dreamer cometh." (Genesis 37:19) Having a dream is NOT the same as being a dreamer. A dream is an appointment with destiny. A person who has a dream has an appointment that must be fulfilled. A dreamer is a person whose ideas and plans are not practical or based in reality. A dreamer is a joker. He talks about things he has no passion nor commitment to carry out. Joseph's brothers thought he was a dreamer. They were blinded by envy and driven by rage. They mistook their saviour for a serpent and tried to kill him, but God delivered Joseph out of their hands. Don't expect people to accept your dreams, They will call you a dreamer and it will hurt your feelings. They will try to bury your dreams but God will...
