NOT A SINGLE ONE LOST

War is usually the last resort in any confrontation or disagreement. Countries reasonably avoid the war front, it is the last resort to seek peace. This is because it costs money, leads to unimaginable destruction and more importantly war claim lives. It would be a miracle for war to take place and no life would be lost. In fact if there was war the evidence would  be lose of life.

In Numbers 31 there was a war and lives were lost. It was a great slaughter. The adversary of the Israelites had suffered a major blow at the war front. Many lives were lost. The fascinating thing about this battle however, was the fact that the Israelites went to the battle field fought their way to a major victory and yet lost no man. Not one of the soldiers of Israel was accounted missing. All twelve thousand returned alive!

"...thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war which are under our charge, and there lacketh not one man of us." - Numbers 31:49

This was the testimony of the commanders of the Israelites army. They had lost no man in the war. This is absolutely remarkable because in the natural it is almost impossible to fight a battle with armed opponents and still return with hundred percent victory.

How did they gain this immaculate victory?

They went with God.

Every time the Israelites went to war with God on their side they returned victorious. In this case God seemed to be silent, no angels was mentioned, no whirlwind, no fire, no supernatural force just men who fought. The reality however is that God went with them though silent. God empowered them for total victory.

Moses had commissioned Phinehas the priest to go with them bearing holy instruments and trumpets (Numbers 31:6). So while the priest was working with holy instruments and blowing the trumpet he was sending a message to heaven to help. Help came and God used the Israelites to claim the victory.

There are situations that confront us daily that threaten to put us to shame. While it may not be a battle on the war front some people are facing tough battles. The cheapest way to come out victorious is to go with God. The best ally anyone can have is the Almighty God because He never loses. Anyone on His side is assured of victory.

What do you need?

The priest went with holy instruments and trumpet NOT weapons. The first thing you need to do is to lose the physical weapon mentality. Too many people are looking for an opportunity to vent their anger. They are seeking someone to blame or destroy. The answer to many life troubles is not in the physical. It is time to turn to Godly weapons. Stop seeing physical men as your enemy. We are supposed to love our neighbours not hate them irrespective of their predisposition towards us.

Since your desire is to invite God into the situation of your life the best weapon to choose will be that of PRAISE. When we praise God with holy instruments (our mouth, mind, hands, body etc) we see God come fully into our situation. I encourage you to praise the LORD over that percieved problem and you will see Him move in to ensure that you lose no man.

Shalom.

IF WE MUST BOAST

If we must boast, let us boast of the mercies of the LORD. Two students attend lectures and put in the same level of preparation; one scores an “A” and the other a “C”. Many explanations can be available, but when we hold all other things constant, mercy is the difference between men. I have written an exam before where I prepared diligently but got into the exam hall and misinterpreted the questions, writing the exact opposite of what was expected. After the exam, I had only one prayer: God, have mercy! In Acts 13, Paul and some other prophets separated themselves to fast and pray. Mercy spoke, and Paul and Barnabas were called into a special assignment. Were they better or more diligent than the others who were not called into that particular assignment? I don’t think so. Apostle Paul later told us that everything he did was a result of the grace of God. God’s mercy and grace are what enable us to achieve any kind of result in life. Let’s be careful how we think. Let’s be careful how...

HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU COUNT MONEY?

Recently, I had to make a lot of cash lodgments at the bank, and I proceeded to arrange and count the notes. I counted the various currency notes like three times and sorted them accordingly. When I got to the bank, the teller went to work, and I wasn’t surprised that the count was perfectly correct. The confidence was because I had double-checked the notes; the margin for error was very slim. In our Christian walk, we mustn’t be overly bold about our right standing in Christ if we haven’t examined ourselves again and again. 2 Cor. 13:5b says, “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves…” Test yourself! Are you standing, or are you just thinking that you are standing? When I counted the money the first time, I could have stopped, but I needed the certainty. I know that I am born again, but I need to examine my heart: is there something hidden there that shouldn’t be there? Once, I was speaking to a group of people, and the manner of my speech wasn’t in confo...

Mistaken Identity

Nothing hurts more than when people take you to be something negative which you are not. If not handled properly it can dry the oil of motivation. Joseph had a DREAM but his brothers mistook him for a DREAMER. They said to one another, "...Behold, this dreamer cometh." (Genesis 37:19) Having a dream is NOT the same as being a dreamer. A dream is an appointment with destiny. A person who has a dream has an appointment that must be fulfilled. A dreamer is a person whose ideas and plans are not practical or based in reality. A dreamer is a joker. He talks about things he has no passion nor commitment to carry out. Joseph's brothers thought he was a dreamer. They were blinded by envy and driven by rage. They mistook their saviour for a serpent and tried to kill him, but God delivered Joseph out of their hands. Don't expect people to accept your dreams, They will call you a dreamer and it will hurt your feelings. They will try to bury your dreams but God will...
