Provoked

Chief lived in a big mansion in uptown Waterside. He had been hard working most of his life, he took his business seriously and there is little doubt that he ended up as successful as he is.

He used to have his beautiful wife, Alice, live with him until she filled for a divorce. When she left she took the two girls with her. He couldn't argue with that after all he was rarely at home.

It's been five years since they left, his busy life had taken a quick plunge to boring. After every business trip he came home to no embrace of love. His attendants were his only comfort, they kept his company only for the money.

He missed his wife. He missed his family.

Only now did he realise what they went through when he was away on those terribly long business trips. He had always told himself they would cope since they all needed the money.

His wife had complained bitterly about his business, he listened but never acted. He never thought she could leave but she did. Seventeen years into marriage and she left. Her patience was fully tried and exhausted.

His relatives had suggested another wife to him but that was an absurd thought to him. He had been a Christian since birth, it wasn't his nature, he couldn't do it.

The fact that his wife left him was an unbelievable reality. She being a believer herself risked all breaking the Master's rule because of his nonchalant attitude. He had to get her back.

Thankfully Alice had remained unmarried. He never stopped monitoring her. Since the divorce he knew more about her movements than even when they were married.

He prayed she would forgive him and return home with the children. He got a big Forgive Me card and wrote for his life.

Author's Note

We must never jeopardize family success. Are members of your family consistently complaining about something? You need to make reasonable adjustments so you don't lose them.

Let's not provoke our family to bad behaviour. Shalom.

MERCY

It’s pulpit rotation Sunday. The guest minister mounted the podium as the church stood with a resounding applause. From the fifth row where he was Oke noticed the deep tribal lines on Pastor Obayemi’s cheeks, and his missing tooth was revealed as he led a worship song. “Oh! Not again!” Oke retorted under his breathe. “When will they stop sending unlearned preachers to us?” He touched his jeans to feel his phone. “It’s going to be a long service.” He turned and moved towards the exit. As we he was about to step outside, he heard the interpreter’s booming voice “Today we will be praying some strong prayers.” Oke proceeded out of the auditorium; phone in hand, a smirk on his face. From the toilet where he stood examining his phone, he could hear the roar of praying people. He was pacing back and forth, staring at the marble walls. He began to ramble about the toilet. “No one is online, even my ‘goons’ will be in church now. This is unfair! I wish I could leave.” He st...

KING SAUL: The Demand

After the death of Joshua and the elders of his generation, the children of Israel forgot the wonders, power and love of the Almighty God. They forsook the Living God and worshipped stone dead gods like the nations around them. They got into the anger book of God and were open to attacks by the enemy. They were sorely oppressed and they cried out. God remembered His promise and love towards Israel and He gave them JUDGES to deliver them out of oppression and to lead them back to righteousness. Thus began the era of the judges. Season after season the people returned to sin and God remained faithful in giving them judges. Years passed and the mantle of leadership fell on a prophet - Samuel. Samuel had a good reputation with God and the people. He judged the people in righteousness and wisdom. His tenure saw the Philistines subdued and cities restored to the Israelites. And there was peace in his days. The Demand Samuel grew old and made his sons judges. Unfortunately the sons of S...

Mistaken Identity

Nothing hurts more than when people take you to be something negative which you are not. If not handled properly it can dry the oil of motivation. Joseph had a DREAM but his brothers mistook him for a DREAMER. They said to one another, "...Behold, this dreamer cometh." (Genesis 37:19) Having a dream is NOT the same as being a dreamer. A dream is an appointment with destiny. A person who has a dream has an appointment that must be fulfilled. A dreamer is a person whose ideas and plans are not practical or based in reality. A dreamer is a joker. He talks about things he has no passion nor commitment to carry out. Joseph's brothers thought he was a dreamer. They were blinded by envy and driven by rage. They mistook their saviour for a serpent and tried to kill him, but God delivered Joseph out of their hands. Don't expect people to accept your dreams, They will call you a dreamer and it will hurt your feelings. They will try to bury your dreams but God will...
